Moscow:
A Moscow court sentenced a student to 10 days in prison for renaming his WiFi network with pro-Kiev slogans during a military offensive in Ukraine, RIA Novosti reported on Saturday.
A student at Moscow State University replaced the network name on his wireless router with “Slava Ukraini” (“Glory to Ukraine”), the Ukrainian army’s battle cry.
The court found him guilty of “publicly displaying Nazi symbols… or symbols of extremist groups,” Rija-Novosti said.
It added that a police officer had reported the network name to authorities.
Since Russia launched its offensive in February 2022, officials have jailed or fined thousands of people who have publicly criticized the operation or expressed support for Ukrainian forces.
