Police across Russia arrested at least 67 people on Friday to pay tribute to opposition leader Alexei Navalny, according to human rights monitoring group OVD-Info.
OVD-Info said it understood “at least 67 people were arrested in 16 towns,” including six in Moscow, where Navalny’s funeral was held and attracted large crowds.
The group said earlier that 18 people were detained in Novosibirsk.
The Kremlin warned it would take action against “unauthorized” protests, and there was a heavy police presence at funerals and funerals in Moscow.
Authorities announced on February 16 that Navalny, the most vocal critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, had died in an Arctic prison.
