A Russian missile struck an industrial area in the northern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv on Wednesday, killing three people, wounding at least five others and causing a fire at a printing factory, local authorities said.
The Kharkiv region borders Russia to the north and is close to the front lines and was frequently attacked during Russia’s two-year invasion.
“According to preliminary data, it was a cruise missile. There is still a serious fire at the site because there is a printing factory there,” the region’s governor, Oleh Synehubov, told state television.
Sergei Bolvinov, head of the regional police investigation department, added that a furniture and paint products factory was also hit.
The emergency department said that rescuers rushed to the scene to put out the fire covering an area of more than 2,000 square meters.
The governor said they continued to work through the rubble as up to ten people may be trapped.
