Moscow:
Moscow on Tuesday welcomed the upcoming nuclear dialogue between the United States and Iran after Washington and Tehran, when high-level discussions for Saturday were set.
US President Donald Trump said on Monday that during a meeting with the United States Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was starting direct conversation with Iran at his nuclear program.
Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov said, “We know that some contact-individual and indirect are planned in-Oman. And, of course, it can only be welcomed as it can increase stresses around Iran.”
He said that Russia supported “absolutely” diplomatic initiatives.
Moscow had earlier called for tension to solve diplomatically between Washington and Tehran, if it did not come to the conversation table after Trump’s clear threat to bombing Iran.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that expert level consultations between Russia, China and Iran on nuclear issues were also prescribed to be in Moscow on Tuesday.
China urged the United States to show “honesty” in a conversation with Iran, which confirmed the conversation in Oman, but insisted that they were “indirect” talks.
During Trump’s first term, Washington collapsed after the Iranian nuclear deal after leaving it and rebuilt comprehensive sanctions.
After Trump’s announcement, Iran dismissed a direct conversation on a new deal to stop the country’s nuclear program and called Idea meaningless.
The Russian Parliament also voted on Tuesday to confirm a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty with its colleague Iran.
Russia is facing restrictions on its military aggressive in Ukraine, Moscow and Tehran have carried forward their cooperation in recent years.
