Moscow, Russia:
Russia said late Saturday it had repelled a barrage of missiles fired by Ukraine at the Crimean city of Sevastopol, which the city’s governor said wounded two people.
“According to preliminary information, more than 10 missiles have been shot down,” Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozaev said on Telegram.
A child and a woman were injured by fragments of the downed missile, which also damaged several residential buildings, he added.
Russia annexed the territory from Ukraine in 2014.
Ukraine regularly attacks the logistically important Crimea with missiles and drones.
In January this year, Kirill Budanov, head of Ukraine’s military intelligence service, said that Ukraine’s attacks on Crimea would intensify.
The Russian Defense Ministry said earlier on Saturday that it also shot down 19 Ukrainian rockets in the Belgorod region on the border with Ukraine.
