Ruben Amorim Just kidding Bruno Fernandez Probably wants his job like he said he did Manchester UnitedEven when he’s out injured, the captain remains a true leader.

Fernandez is out Manchester United beat Newcastle 1-0 on Boxing Day He will miss Tuesday’s game against Wolves due to a hamstring problem.

But Amorim revealed the midfielder has shown his commitment to the cause by watching his teammates train and constantly talking to them.

He said: “He’s the one who’s still watching training even after treatment. He’s going there. I don’t know if he wants my job but he’s a leader. This guy is a leader.

“He’s always talking. That’s why he’s captain. He does bad things sometimes, like [he] Moves his arm, but he has a lot of good stuff, but he always leaves the game. In training, every time he recovers, he watches everyone else train that day. So there are a lot of things that you don’t see, but he does. He has always been a great leader. ”

Fernandes has missed just two games through injury in his United career before picking up the injury in the recent defeat to Aston Villa, but despite his desire for a speedy recovery, Amorim insists he will not return this week.

“He had no chance against Wolves, no chance,” he laughed. “You can write it like this.”

But defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire will remain absent, with Amorim adding: “I don’t know how Metz will perform in that game. I don’t think Kobe Mainu will be ready. Bruno won’t be ready. I don’t think Matt will be ready. Harry won’t be ready. So, I don’t think we’ll have any more players.”

Amorim also doubted whether his injured team-mate will return for Sunday’s trip to Leeds, adding: “Bruno has said he needs to train but we don’t know. Coby Mainu will also start on the pitch so we’ll see. Mathis is struggling a bit. Harry is too, so I don’t expect players to be involved in this game, another game, I don’t know.”
