Mumbai, Oct 28 (IANS) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said the government has already deposited Rs 8,000 crore in the bank accounts of 40 lakh farmers affected by rains and floods in the state.

Weekly State Cabinet approves additional Rs 11,000 crore. This assistance is being provided through the Rs 31,628 crore relief package approved by the state Cabinet on October 7.

The Chief Minister said, “Under the assistance announced by the government, so far Rs 8,000 crore has been released through DBT. The money has been transferred to the accounts of about 40 lakh farmers. Today in the cabinet meeting, approval was given to release another Rs 11,000 crore. Since this money was not in the budget, it was approved as a special case. Now, we have asked to deposit this money in the accounts of farmers in the next 15 days.”

CM Fadnavis said that partial amount has been sent to some places.

He said, “The reason is that we had decided to approve the lists as soon as they came, and not wait for all the lists. So, there is no need for anyone to doubt that they got NDRF money, but did not get direct assistance of Rs 10,000. Some people say they got Rs 10,000, but did not get assistance up to three hectares. People who had got money for two hectares will now get the same for the third hectare. money is also being given Is.”

CM Fadnavis said that the government is taking full care that the eligible people are not left out. Apart from this, a large amount of revalidation also has to be done so that the money does not go to the account of an ineligible person.

He said that in the next 15 to 20 days the money will reach the accounts of the farmers, due to which the government will cover up to 90 percent of the farmers. He clarified that there is no shortage of money.

The CM said that out of the total relief package of Rs 31,628 crore, about Rs 21,000 crore will be deposited directly into the bank accounts of farmers. He reiterated that the government has already disbursed Rs 8,000 crore, while the state cabinet has approved the release of Rs 11,000 crore. Apart from this, Rs 1,500 crore will be released separately.

Further, the Chief Minister said that with the commencement of procurement of agricultural produce, the government has started registration of farmers so that they can get guaranteed prices.

“If traders are paying guaranteed price, then farmers should sell their produce to them. But if farmers are getting a lower price, then they should sell it to the government at its procurement centres,” he said.
