‘Rs 47 crore on the bench’: Former CSK star mercilessly mocks RCB

Seeing players like Maxwell, Green on the bench along with other expensive stars like Alzarri Joseph and Mohammad Siraj, former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Abhinav Abhinav Mukund couldn’t resist the opportunity to mock the Bengaluru team.

“RCB have Rs 17.5+11.5+11+7 Crore on their bench,” Mukund wrote on X (formerly Twitter), referring to Green, Joseph, Maxwell and Siraj.

While other stars were benched by management, Maxwell himself decided to quit the team, citing mental and physical fatigue.

“It was a very simple decision. After the last game (against Mumbai Indians), I went to Faf and the coaches and said it might be time for us to try someone else (in his place). This It was actually a good time to give myself a little time to rest mentally and physically and let my body get back to normal,” Maxwell said in his post-match press conference.

“If I need to compete during the game, I want to be able to get back into a solid mental and physical space where I can make an impact,” Maxwell said in the postgame press conference.

Maxwell hasn’t lived up to his reputation in the six games he’s played so far this season, scoring just 32 points for a 5.33 average and a 94 shooting percentage.

Of the 32 points he scored, Maxwell scored 28 points against Kolkata Knight Riders alone.
