Officials said on Sunday that Guwahati, September 28 (IANS) Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has rescued 21 persons including 19 minors, including 19 minors, including 19 minors from various railway stations under their jurisdiction.
NFR Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said that in an attempt to protect weak passengers and curb human trafficking, the RPF of NFR has achieved remarkable success during the period 18 to 23 September.
He said that a total of 21 persons including 19 minors were rescued by RPF from various railway stations of NFR during the period of six days (18 to 23 September).
The CPRO stated that all the rescued individuals were safely handed over to child line officials, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), their concerned parents and local police to take further action.
On 18 and 19 September, RPF teams of Alipurduar (North Bengal) and Chaparmukh (Nagaon district) conducted major rescue operations.
During these drives, a total of three fugitive minors were successfully rescued.
All the rescued children were later handed over to the childline officers nominated for safe custody and further care.
On 20 and 21 September, RPF teams of Barsoi, New Coochber, Kamakhya, New Jalpaiguri and Chaparmukh carried out major rescue operations.
During these drives, a total of eight fugitive minors were successfully rescued with a boy and two destitute minor children.
All the rescued children were later handed over to the childline officers nominated for safe custody and further care.
Similarly, on 22 and 23 September, RPF teams from Lumding and Kishanganj carried out rescue operations at Lumding and Kellsanganj railway stations.
During these works, a total of six fugitive minors, including a girl, were rescued.

Under the “Meri Saheli” initiative, which focuses on the safety and welfare of women passengers, especially for those who are traveling alone, RPF-de-dedicated women’s squads, which are constantly active and alert.
Their continuous efforts have ensured a safe travel atmosphere for many women passengers in NFR, Sharma said.
He said that the RPF of NFR remains stable to increase passenger safety through a series of passenger -friendly measures with timely intervention in its mission, vigilance patrolling and special emphasis on the protection of women and children.
The NFR operates in the northeastern states and seven districts of West Bengal and five districts of North Bihar.
