Royal Mail A plan has been announced to recruit around 20,000 temporary workers to increase the operation of their distribution during the busy Christmas period.
The postal service confirmed that the new posts would be spread across the country to two parcel hubs, four seasonal parcel sorting centers and 37 mail centers. This important hiring drives are to help the company manage the expected increase in demand around major shopping programs including Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the festive season.
In particular, 12,000 mail center sorting roles will be available EnglandWith additional 2,000 Scotland600 in WalesAnd in 400 Northern IrelandIn addition, the Royal Mail will be recruited for 3,000 delivery and collection roles throughout the UK, with 2,000 temporary HGV and MGGA’s posts.
Four additional seasonal pruning centers will be installed in Royal Mail Etherstone, Milton Keins, Northampton And daventry to help complete this delivery.
Royal Mail Interim Chief Operating Officer Jamie Stephenson said: “As we do every year, we will take out all stops to make Christmas special for our customers.
“This is the busiest time for us, and we work tirelessly behind the curtain – planning months in advance – to ensure that everything goes smoothly.
“From festive parcels to supporting online shopping, we are investing heavily in additional resources, including thousands of seasonal team members, to help to ensure that every delivery comes with timely and care.”
The seasonal roles will run from late October to the beginning of January 2026.
