Royal Enfield has launched the Shotgun 650 in India at Rs 3.5 lakh, strengthening its presence in the middle-weight motorcycle segment.

Royal Enfield launched the Shotgun 650 motorcycle in India on January 15, priced at around Rs 3.5 lakh.

This new combination strengthens the brand’s presence in the middle-weight motorcycle segment, which has seen a growth in demand. The Shotgun 650 becomes Royal Enfield’s fourth motorcycle to be powered by a 650 cc engine, joining the Interceptor, Continental GT and Super Meteor 650 models.

Royal Enfield revealed the SG650 concept at EICMA 2021. The company then introduced the Shotgun 650 Motoverse Edition motorcycle in 2023, which was the production version of the SG650 concept and generated significant buzz at the Motoverse event. Now, the Shotgun 650 has been officially launched in the Indian market.

Royal Enfield Shotgun 650: Design, features, engine and others

While the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 Super shares design elements with the Meteor 650, it differentiates itself with unique bodywork. From the large 13.8-litre fuel tank to the side panels and rear fender, the design of the motorcycle stands out.

A contemporary touch has been introduced with the aluminum cowl covering the headlamps. Overall, the bike has a great, modern feel with a retro aesthetic. It is noteworthy that the motorcycle initially presents a cruiser appearance, but a simple pull-out rear seat allows it to be transformed into a bobber.

The Shotgun 650 and the Super Meteor 650 display many similarities in terms of equipment. Both bikes share the same headlight, taillight, indicators, instrumentation, switchgear cubes and adjustable brake and clutch levers. However, the Shotgun 650, a new addition, features a smaller 18-inch front wheel, along with a larger 17-inch rear wheel.

As for the suspension, the twin shock units are now longer but their travel remains almost the same as on the Super Meteor 650. The front fork length has been reduced while maintaining the same suspension travel. That being said, the braking system on the new Shotgun 650 is completely new.

The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 is powered by the same 648 cc air-oil cooled parallel twin engine that powers the other 650 cc bikes in the lineup. The engine can produce 46 bhp of maximum power and 52 Nm of peak torque when mated to a six-speed gearbox. This motorbike is going to provide a speed of around 22 km/l.
