‘Rolling back’: Theo Walcott responds after scoring v Tottenham & Arsenal fans will love it

Former Arsenal forward Theo Walcott posted on Instagram that he was ‘rolling back the years’ after scoring for Southampton against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Arsenal fan and talkSPORT presenter Laura Woods told Walcott in the comments section of the 34-year-old’s IG post that he will ‘always be a red’ after his relegation-threatened Saints side piled more pressure on Antonio Conte’s men following a 3-3 draw.

Only 12 months ago, Spurs were riding a massive wave with Conte, which would eventually result in Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal missing out on fourth spot in the Premier League and a return to the Champions League.

Well, fast forward to the present and Conte is off on one of his rants again, whilst Arsenal are flying high at the top of the Premier League table, their rivals are at risk of missing out on Champions League football for next term.

If that does happen, then Walcott has certainly played his part, as well as Arsenal loanee Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who won the stoppage-time penalty, which was converted by the ice-cool and the technically talented, James Ward-Prowse.

Nonetheless, this was Walcott’s message after scoring against Spurs.

ARSENAL AND TOTTENHAM ARE WORLDS APART

What doesn’t help Conte’s cause is that Tottenham spent in January, but most importantly, during the summer transfer window as well.

Yet, fast forward to the present, and it’s Arsenal playing the pretty stuff and possibly six weeks away from becoming champions of England.

That won’t help Conte’s cause when he is off on one of his rants because, whilst there is truth in what he says about the running of the club, he also needs to have a look at himself.
