New Delhi, Nov 17 (IANS) JDU chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar on Monday reacted to the statements of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya, calling her the ‘daughter of Bihar’ after she publicly expressed deep grief over the developments within the family.
Speaking to IANS, Neeraj Kumar said, “This is their internal matter, but the main issue is that you are undermining the development of Bihar and disrupting communal harmony. The legacy of Jannayak Karpoori Thakur, who was born and died in poverty, is being misused.”
Continuing his remarks, he said, “This is an internal matter of the Rashtriya Janata Dal family. However, the important thing is that Rohini Acharya is not just the daughter of a political family, she is the daughter of Bihar. The internal feud of the family has now become public. Expressing his grief, he said that he is hurt by this situation…”
Neeraj Kumar’s comments came after Rohini Acharya announced her decision to step away from politics and distance herself from her family, triggering political reactions across Bihar.
JDU state president Umesh Kushwaha also reacted and acknowledged the sensitivity of the situation while appreciating the personal sacrifice of Rohini.
He said, “It is completely their family matter… But the example that Rohini Acharya has set, she donated her kidney to her father, one such daughter is there. A few days ago, if you remember, the daughter-in-law of the same house was seen crying…”
LJP (Ram Vilas) MLA Veena Devi expressed her concern while speaking emotionally as a mother. She said, “When I saw Rohini Acharya crying, I felt sad because I am also a mother. People should take decisions at home only, family matters should not be made public.”
Minister Santosh Kumar Suman urged restraint and respect, saying, “…such incidents should not happen; everyone deserves respect. What is happening inside, who is harassing whom, who is threatening whom, I do not know. And I have no knowledge about the person who has been mentioned, whose name has been taken…”
BJP MLA Manorama Devi echoed similar sentiments, saying, “Women should be respected like our own sisters and daughters… This should not happen to someone who saved her father’s life. It was very painful to watch.”
Rohini Acharya accused her family of verbal abuse and insults. She wrote that “filthy abuses” were hurled at her, slippers were used to hit her and she was eventually thrown out of her house.
Earlier she had posted on Instagram that she was “quitting politics” and “abandoning” her family, claiming that her decision came at the behest of Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, close to Tejashwi Yadav.
