Indian Ace Rohan Bopana and Ben Shelton’s men’s doubles campaign at Monte Carlo Masters ended the quarter -finals on Friday after losing to Monagaska Romain Arneoo and partner Manual Ginard. Indo-American Duo returned from a set, but lost in Super Tiebreak with the scoreline 6–2, 4-6, 10-7. This was Bopana’s sixth quarterfinal appearance in the Monte-Karlo Masters, a title that he removed in 2017. Bopana Shelton showed a top-tur-brake in a 10-7 second-round of win against third seed Simon Boleli and Andrea Wavasori 2-6, 7-6 (4), 10-7 seconds winning win. After his first win over Francisco Cerendolo and Alejandro Tabilo, Bopana became 45 years and ATP Masters at the age of one month to win the match at 1000 levels either a single or oldest player in a single or doubles.

He broke the previous record organized by Canadian Legend Daniel Nestar, which was 44 years old and 8 months, when he won a match in the 2017 Madrid Masters, ironically that against Bopana, who was then partnership with Pablo Qawas.

In singles, ATP Masters is Evo Carlovic, the oldest player to win a match at 1000 level, who defeated India’s Prajnesh Gunsavaran at the age of 40 in Indian wells in 2019.

Last year, Bopana on Saturday made history by becoming the oldest person in Open Era to win a major men’s doubles title, to win the Australian Open with Australian Matthew Aben.

Run also helped Bopana become World No. 1 for the first time in the doubles. In March last year, partnership with Bopana, Aben, became the oldest ATP Masters 1000 champions in the Miami Open.
