A member of a crew jumped on the rocks to assure the dog, while the Y-boat returned to the lifeboat for another crew member and a heavy line.

The rescue team secured the line to the dog, stated that they had no other option for the crew members and the dog.

“However, due to the size of the otis, it was almost impossible to recover him for the Y-boat, so it was held against the boat until they were not able to return their way to the crew waiting on the board RNLB roses. Otis was recovered, as well as with the Y-boy on the lifeboat ready to travel at the lifeboat station.”

The volunteers kept the dog warm until they reunite with their owners.

“Otis had potentially entered due to the amount of water, he was also going to pay a quick journey for the weight,” RNLI said.
