Patna, Nov 17 (IANS) Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), already reeling under poor performance in the Bihar Assembly elections, witnessed open dissent on Monday evening as angry party workers started protesting outside the residence of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi in Patna.
The workers protested against Sanjay Yadav, Rajya Sabha MP and key advisor to Tejashwi Yadav, holding him responsible for the party’s election defeat.
RJD’s crushing defeat has created an atmosphere of rebellion within the party.
There is increasing resentment among party workers over the misbehavior with Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya.
Soon after Tejashwi Yadav was formally elected RJD legislature party leader on Monday, dozens of party workers gathered outside Rabri Devi’s residence.
They raised slogans demanding to send Sanjay Yadav back to Haryana.
Sanjay Yadav, originally from Haryana, has been a close aide of Tejashwi Yadav for a long time and is often referred to as the “Chanakya” of the RJD.
But after the election setback he has become the primary target of internal anger.
The reaction intensified after Rohini Acharya publicly criticized Sanjay Yadav and Rameez Nemat Khan, another close aide of Tejashwi.
Rohini accused both of mishandling political strategy and influencing key decisions, which, according to her, led to the downfall of the party.
In a dramatic twist, Rohini Acharya alleged that she was humiliated by Tejashwi Yadav, Sanjay Yadav and Rameez Nemat Khan.
She announced that she was breaking relations with her brother and urged the media to directly question Tejashwi and his two associates about their behavior and role in the election defeat.
The internal discord has come to the fore at a time when the party is trying to regroup after the election defeat, but the growing opposition and Rohini Acharya’s explosive allegations have deepened the crisis within the RJD.
