Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), which contested 143 seats in the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, ended with 18 wins and was leading on seven more seats on Friday, taking its tally to 25.

The latest data from the Election Commission shows that the grand alliance is winning 21 seats overall, including three reserved by the Congress.

Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the largest party with 77 seats, while Janata Dal (United) stood second with 59 seats. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar thanked the alliance partners and said the “overwhelming majority” demonstrated “unity” within the alliance.

The two-phase voting ended on 11 November. Amid changing alliances and rising anti-incumbency sentiments, the election served as a crucial test for JD(U) president and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the state’s longest-serving chief minister.
