Patna, October 20 (IANS) Janata Dal (United) leader and candidate from Mokama Assembly constituency of Bihar, Ananth Kumar Singh has expressed confidence of winning the elections and said that public support will once again ensure his victory.
In an open challenge to his rival from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Singh said he has been contesting elections for more than two decades and is confident of another victory.
A high profile election fight is going on in Mokama between Bahubali Anant Singh and Surajbhan Singh’s wife Veena Devi.
Speaking to IANS, Anant Singh said, “You are giving a big challenge to Surajbhan Singh, but I have been fighting for 20-25 years. He has lost every time and will lose this time too.”
Rejecting any fear of violence or muscle power in the elections, Singh said, “In my view there is no such thing.”
Taking a dig at the ongoing tussle between RJD and Congress over ticket distribution, he said, “I have heard that both the parties are fielding their own candidates in seven constituencies. Their partnership has broken.”
He also criticized RJD for fielding Mohammad Shahabuddin’s son Osama Shahab as its candidate.
Accusing the RJD of trying to revive “jungle raj” in Bihar, Singh said, “They want jungle raj, but it will never happen.”
He also took a dig at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and said, “If Lalu Yadav was not here, no one would know Tejashwi. He has no personal qualities; he is only known for being Lalu’s son.”
Highlighting his ‘deep connect’ with the people, Singh said, ‘We live with the people, which is why the public loves us so much.’
Speaking about Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he said, “Nitish Kumar first wanted to make me a minister, but I said I want what the public has given me. This time I will think about it. If the public says I should become a minister, then I will. The public loves me and we love the public.”
Asked about Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) president Mukesh Sahni, Singh said, “He should join my party. Our party respects everyone and we will accept him.”
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singh said, “He is a good man and is developing Bihar. There has been a lot of change in the state as compared to before. Many roads and bridges have been built. Under the leadership of PM Modi and CM Nitish Kumar, Bihar is moving forward on the path of development.”
