Patna, Nov 13 (IANS) With the completion of voting for both phases of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, all attention is now focused on the counting of votes on November 14. However, even before the results, the political temperature in the state has risen sharply after RJD leader Sunil Kumar Singh warned on Thursday that Bihar could see a Nepal-like situation if there is any manipulation during the counting process.
Sunil Kumar Singh is close to RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi and maternal uncle of Tejashwi Yadav.
Sunil Kumar Singh warned that if any manipulation was done during the counting process to influence victory or defeat, a Nepal-like situation could arise in Bihar, which would be difficult to handle.
Singh said, “During the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, there was a delay of 4 to 5 hours in the counting process. If the same was repeated tomorrow, either our candidate would have come out of the counting centers or the returning officer would have.”
He further said that any attempt to rig or tamper with the election results will not be tolerated, adding that RJD workers will take to the streets in protest.
The RJD leader also alleged that some elements within the government may try to interfere in the counting process.
His remarks drew a sharp reaction from the ruling NDA, whose leaders dismissed the statement as an act of desperation and fear of defeat.
BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal accused RJD of trying to create unrest.
Jaiswal said, “There is rule of law in Bihar.” He said, “If RJD workers commit arson or any kind of mischief, the administration will deal with it strictly. The public gives mandate in elections and this time the people of Bihar have given their mandate to NDA. RJD is feeling uncomfortable and is making provocative statements due to fear of defeat.”
Sunil Kumar Singh’s comments have once again brought him into the center of controversy, as he is known for his outspoken comments.
With just hours left for counting of votes to begin at 8 am on Friday in Bihar, his statement has heightened political tension in the state as both the alliances brace for a tightly contested outcome on November 14.
