New Delhi, Nov 2 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took a dig at the ‘grand alliance’ (RJD-Congress-Left) over the discord and divisions within the alliance and claimed that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has put a ‘katta’ (country gun) on the head of its national ally Congress, forcing the Congress to accept Tejashwi Yadav as the chief ministerial candidate.
The shocking allegation came as PM Modi addressed a mega rally in Bihar’s Arrah district and pointed to the intense wrangling and deadlock within the grand alliance before reaching a seat-sharing agreement.
Notably, the seat-sharing agreement of the Grand Alliance was marred by infighting and bitter differences and was made public just a day before the candidates were to withdraw their nominations.
The reason for this was apparently the division within the Grand Alliance over presenting the chief ministerial face ahead of the Bihar elections.
While Congress remained reluctant, RJD remained adamant on declaring Tejashwi as the chief ministerial candidate of the alliance.
Addressing a huge gathering, PM Modi said, “I am telling you the secret of the fight that took place in the Grand Alliance a day before the withdrawal of nominations.”
He said that there is fierce discord within the Grand Alliance, both Congress and RJD are trying to outdo each other.
He said that Congress never wanted the name of RJD leader to be fixed as the Chief Ministerial candidate, but RJD snatched the post of Chief Minister by holding a gun to the head of Congress.
PM Modi also said, “Hatred has increased so much that even after the elections, people will start beating each other’s heads. So always remember, such people can never do any good to Bihar.”
Bringing up the “Jungle Raj” of the RJD era and comparing it with the NDA, the Prime Minister said, “The NDA has presented an honest and visionary manifesto for the development of Bihar. Every promise, every plan is dedicated to the rapid development of Bihar.”
He said, “On one side is the honest manifesto of NDA and on the other side are the people of ‘Jungle Raj’. They have made their manifesto a document of lies, deception and pulling dust in the eyes of the people.”
