Riots in Farrukhabad after bulldozer operation… Revenue officials attacked, FIR targeted against 30 villagers

In Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad village, the government used bulldozers to demolish many illegal structures built on government land. After the operation, some officials arrived in the village to try to persuade the people, but the atmosphere suddenly deteriorated. Some villagers became angry and attacked two tax officials. Those attacked included accountants Rudra Pratap Singh and Saurabh Pandey.

The police have registered a case against 30 villagers in connection with the incident. The villagers allegedly obstructed the revenue officials from their work and attacked them.

After the incident, Lekhpal Association district president Ajit Dwivedi said they would conduct dharna ceremonies until the accused are arrested. The Lehpal Association demanded strict action.

Nawabganj police station SHO Balraj Bhati said the villagers against whom the FIR was lodged were accused of crimes such as obstructing police officers from discharging their duties, endangering people’s lives or personal safety, destroying documents or electronic records, and conspiracy to commit crimes. There were also charges of attempted murder.

Recently, the district administration bulldozed illegally built houses on government land in Mohammadabad Development Area in Farrukhabad. For this reason, people from the tax bureau came to persuade the villagers. When the tax team arrived in the village, the villagers beat up the two accountants who were accompanying the team. Video of the fight went viral on social media. After the Lehpal couple were beaten, the Lehpal Association also came forward and complained to the police station against the villagers who beat them.
