According to a press release, New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) is one of the most respected nonprofit organizations in the American entertainment industry, dedicated to supporting, promoting, and celebrating women working in film, television, and digital media.
Das was among the 11 international filmmakers honored for their contribution to cinema.
The filmmaker said the recognition was “deeply meaningful”. “Receiving this honor from New York Women in Film and Television for ‘Village Rockstar 2’ means a lot to me. I see it not just as a personal honor, but as an affirmation that stories from India, told with honesty and lived-in feel, can travel across borders.” she said in a statement.
“My cinematic journey and ambitions are broad and this support strengthens my belief in creating a more inclusive global cinema,” he said.
The film is a sequel to Das’s multiple award-winning film “Village Rockstar”. It had its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival 2024, where it received the Kim Jiseok Award for Best Film.
