singer-songwriter Jenny Lewisknown for leading the band say kellycelebrated her 50th birthday by marrying her dog.
The artist tied the knot with her — ceremonially, if not legally canine companiona cocker spaniel named Bobby Rhubarb, who Lewis previously wrote about in the 2021 song “Puppies and Trucks.”
She shared photos and clips from the event on social media, which also featured musical performances by herself and special guests.
Wearing a white wedding dress, Lewis performed her band The Postal Service’s “Such Great Heights” with Ben Gibbard and Phantom Planet’s “California” with Alex Greenwald. Morgan Nagler and Farmer Dave Scher are also performing.
After the event, Lewis wrote on X/Twitter: “My dog and I got married for my 50th birthday… God bless!”
Fans sent congratulatory messages to the eccentric musician, with one person writing: “Muzzle tov.”
“Bad news: Dogs develop seven-year itch almost immediately. Good news: It’s easily treated with a belly scratch,” joked another.

Responding to the downbeat lyrics in the 2002 Rilo Kiley hit “The Good That Won’t Come Out,” Lewis responded: “That was my emo era! You can only write songs like that in your twenties. But yeah, I do think choosing to be sad is a thing.
“Well, sometimes you can’t help it. I wake up at three in the morning and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, what have I done with my life?’ Sadness is the default and you have to find a way out of it. Exercise helps. Same with having a dog.”

In addition to her successful music career with Rilo Kiley and as a solo artist, Lewis is also known for her screen work, first rising to prominence as a child actor in films such as beverly hills troop (1989) and wizard (1989) and TV series brooklyn bridge (1991-1993).
“I was born a musician,” she told independentexplaining that her acting job is one that helps support her mother and sister. “When I retired from show business, my family was unhappy about it because this is how we pay for our garbage.
“But I’m a survivalist and there’s a suspicion deep inside me that if I stayed, I might not survive.”
