In a bid to ensure the safety and efficient monitoring of the devotees traveling Amarnath, the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) cards are being distributed to the pilgrims. The Ramban District Informatics Center has set up several RFID distribution counters in passenger foundation and various anchor sites in Chanderkot, which are powered by trained computer operators.
An Amarnath Yatra pilgrim came to the distribution counter to get an RFID card. Talking to ANI, he said that RFID card will help people locate them in terms of emergency.
He said, “I have come here to get an RFID card for my journey, which starts from Baltal. This RFID card will help people find us in case of any emergency,” he said.
Meanwhile, the fifth batch of devotees, which arrived in Chanderkote in Ramban district on Saturday, departed from the Nanwan base camp in Pahgam for his further visit to Shri Amarnath ji’s holy cave.
Speaking about his experience, Nilesh Upadhyay, a pilgrim traveling for the 13th time, said, “I have come here for the 13th time. The arrangements are very good … here is peace …”.
Another pilgrim, Siddharth Aggarwal, on the way to Shri Amarnath ji’s holy cave, said, “I am here for the first time … We thought not to devotees due to the recent incident.
Earlier on Saturday, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that about 26,000-27,000 pilgrims visited the Amarnath Yatra since the onset of the annual pilgrimage, removing the misconception that the enthusiasm of the pilgrims will be reduced after the Pahlgam terror attack.
The Union Minister attributed the high polling of pilgrims to the success of the government and said that people are confident that there will be no shortcomings in security arrangements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. (AI)
