Bhopal, October 26 (IANS) The Madhya Pradesh government has now announced to increase the monthly incentive of Ladli Behna Scheme to Rs 1,500 from November.
Speaking at a function in Bhopal on Sunday, the Chief Minister said his government was going to increase the monthly incentive amount to Rs 1,500, which was initially Rs 1,000 per month.
Earlier, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had announced to transfer an additional Rs 250 per beneficiary ahead of the festival of Bhai Dooj on October 23 this month. However, this could not be implemented at that time.
CM Yadav announced, “Our government stands firm on its commitment towards the welfare of women and bringing smiles on their faces.”
Earlier on October 12, during an event, CM Yadav had transferred the 29th installment – Rs 1,541 crore – directly into the accounts of over 1.26 crore Laadli Brahmin beneficiaries, where he had declared, “This Diwali and Bhai Dooj gift, this will empower our sisters.”
He also highlighted the Lakhpati Behna Scheme, under which more than 1,00,000 women have got gainful employment, while 6.2 million women are associated with Self Help Groups (SHGs).
The Chief Minister said that more than 47 percent of the startups in the state are led by women.
“They are no longer job seekers – they are job creators,” he said.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for continued support, he compared the current progress with the Congress era: “Opportunities were limited then; the situation has changed.”
CM Yadav reiterated the government’s promise of 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
Describing ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ as a unique global salute, he said, “India alone connects mother power with nationalism. When a mother is empowered, she revives the society, culture and ancient traditions.”
With this enhanced stipend/incentive, the Laadli Bahana Scheme not only provides financial security but also catalyzes entrepreneurship, leadership and cultural revival, thereby setting the state as a model for gender empowerment.
