Chennai, 7 October (IANS) South Cyber Crime Police of Chennai has arrested retired police officer Varadarajan for allegedly commenting on social media against Justice Senthilkumar Ramamurthy of Madras High Court, Varadarajan, who is overseeing judicial inquiries in the lives of 41 people during an actor-politian Visted.
The Karur tragedy took place in Veluchmipuram on 27 September, where a large crowd gathered for Vijay’s first major political rally after launching his party, Tamilga Vatri Kazgam (TVK).
Despite being compatible with the site for only a few thousand, about 30,000 supporters reportedly increased, causing chaos and a deadly stampede.
Subsequently, the Tamil Nadu police intensified action against rumors and stimulating materials related to the incident. Cybercrime teams have already registered several cases against persons harassing public order through misinformation. The popular YouTubers among the targeted people were Felix Gerald and Maridhas.
While the court refused to take Garald into custody, Maridhas were questioned and released on the condition that he should be present for further investigation if necessary.
Justice Senthilkumar Ramamurthy, who is listening to petitions related to stampede, had previously directed the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under North Zone Inspector General ASRA Garg to investigate the circumstances of the disaster.
During a recent hearing, the judge visited the political leadership of the organizers.
Indirectly referred to TVK’s leadership, he commented that the top officials of the party, including “including Vijay, showed a lack of leadership qualities in handling an incident in this scale.”
His remarks provoked a wave of online debate – some Neitizes welcomed the judge’s Cander, while others launched derogatory operations against him.
Justice Ramamurthy replied to criticism, saying, “Judges are criticized; we take it smiling.” Police said Varadarajan, who runs a small political organization called Netaji Makkal Kachi and often posts a political comment video, uploaded a video individually attacking the judge on his comments.
Working on complaints and digital evidence, Cyber Crime officials arrested him. Officials said that Crackdown is part of a comprehensive effort to prevent hatred campaigns and ensures that sensitive investigation continues and remains within legal limitations.
