Leh, 29 September (IANS) Leh Apex Body said on Monday that negotiations with the Center would be suspended until the general situation in the Ladakh region restored the general situation.
Leh Apex Body President Thupston Chewang has appealed to the Center and the administration to address an atmosphere of fear, grief and anger in the Ladakh region.
“We unanimously agree that this situation is currently prevalent, until peace is restored in Ladakh, there may be no talks,” said Thupston Chhewang.
He said that he has urged the Union Home Ministry and the UT administration to take steps to address an atmosphere of fear, sorrow and anger in Ladakh.
In the relevant development, the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) has warned the Center that they are separating the people of Ladakh. KDA has demanded that climate activist, Sonam Wangchuk and others should be detained after the recent Leh violence.
KDA is agitating for the state and other demands, with Leh Apex body. The coalition has convicted the UT administration for the death of four people and others, including security forces, have been hurt.
KDA member Sajjad Kargili has demanded unconditional release of the youth detained after Sonam Wangchuk and Leh violence.
Kargilli said that the grant of state and inclusion in the 6th schedule for the Ladakh region is ‘non-pervantic’.
Four protesters died and more than 70 others were injured on 24 September when an uncontrolled mob resorted to stone pelting and arson. The protesters tortured the CRPF vehicle with the intention of burning the CRPF Jawans sitting inside the vehicle.
The mob tortured the local BJP office and Leh Apex Body’s office besides breaking the DGP vehicle.
Sonam Wangchuk was on hunger strike since September 10, but on September 24, when violence erupted in the city, he broke the fast.
He was arrested under the National Security Act (NSA) and transferred to Jodhpur Jail. MZ MHA also canceled the FCRA registration certificate of the educational and cultural movement of the Wantchuk-established students of Ladakh (SECMOL), citing gross FCRA violation by Sonam Wangchuk.
