Republican NYC mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa just happened to reveal two surprising things we didn’t know before.

Although he has always been in third place in this race, apparently he is making some very powerful people very angry and very concerned.

Speaking in a new Street interview, he revealed that “they” had bribed him with $10 million if he had dropped out of the race.

When that didn’t work, they are now threatening to kill both him and his wife.

curtis sliwa:

Reporting to me. Now, many people wonder why didn’t Curtis drop out? But why didn’t you leave your studies?

If people are worried that Mondale is going to win because you’re going to split the vote and whatnot, but you’re a Republican and Cuomo lost to Mondale – why wouldn’t you come out?

Well, conclusively – and by the way, they bribed me with ten million dollars to drop out of school, and I said, “Oh no, this is not only unethical, but also illegal.”

So they couldn’t bribe me, so they threatened to kill me and my wife.

Now, for the first time in my life, I have armed protection – after Gottis and Gambino killed me with five hollowpoint bullets, and I was fine in 1992.

I never had armed security. Now I will have to provide armed security.

So they think – these billionaires, these insiders and influential people – they think they’ll elect the next mayor.

Guess what? I trust people. The public votes. That’s what democracy is about – one person, one vote – and we’ll see on November 4 who they elect.

And I’m sure it will be me.

Back up here if necessary:

Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa says they tried to bribe him $10 million to drop out of the New York City mayoral race, and now they’re threatening to kill him and his wife.

Who are “they”?

Meanwhile, the gap between Mamdani, Cuomo, and Sliwa is closing, but will it close fast enough to save NYC?

Andrew Cuomo, Curtis Sliwa narrow gap on socialist Zohran Mamdani in latest NYC mayor election poll https://t.co/OlAMuwtuc6 pic.twitter.com/uRGtNFbWfD

NY Post Turns out that if Sliwa had dropped out, Cuomo would currently have the lead:

Radical socialist Zohran Mamdani’s lead over Andrew Cuomo in the mayor’s race has shrunk to just 6.6 points in a shocking new poll — giving him the smallest lead in any poll since July.

A new poll from Atlas Intel has Mamdani leading with 40.6%, but by a much smaller margin than in other recent polls. It features the former governor of New York, who is running as an independent candidate and is rapidly rising to 34%.

It also gives Sliwa her best showing with 24.1%, which is her high water mark since the HarrisX poll in July, which gave her 22%.

Cuomo hailed the new election results as proof that he could prevail over his leftist rival.

“The gap is closing rapidly – we can feel it on the ground everywhere from the Bronx to Staten Island. At this rate, we win the race. Stay strong,” he said in a statement.

The results come days after two surveys showed Mamdani in a comfortable lead. A Fox News poll released Thursday had Mamdani leading Cuomo 47% to 31%, while leading Sliwa by just 15%, while an Emerson College poll put him ahead 50% to 25%, while leading Sliwa by 21%.

Mamdani leads by an average of 14.5% in the latest Real Clear Politics polling average, which puts him on track to enter Gracie Mansion.

He averages 45%, followed by Cuomo at 31% and Sliwa at 17%.

New Atlas survey reveals impact of Sliwa’s race, despite calls for his ouster. According to the poll, if there had been a two-person margin between Cuomo and Mamdani, Cuomo would have been ahead 50% to 42%.

Meanwhile, Polymarket is almost never wrong and has very different polls/probabilities, putting Mamdani at 95%:
