A local Los Angeles meteorologist suddenly collapsed while on live TV in a terrifying moment on Saturday morning.
As reported by the New York Post, CBS Los Angeles reporter Alissa Carlson Schwartz’s co-anchors had just cut to her to deliver her 7am weather report when she appeared to turn white and leaned forward uneasily on her desk.
Schwartz tried to steady herself but suddenly her eyes rolled to the back of her head. She slowly slumped forward until her head nearly hit the table.
Her co-anchors, Nichelle Medina and Rachael Kim, initially didn’t seem to notice – but after a couple of seconds, Kim let out an “oh!” and Medina told viewers that “we’re going to take a quick break right now”.
“Yeah,” Kim agreed, as the network cut to commercial.
According to TMZ, the morning show did not return to a live segment.
Schwartz later posted on Facebook, thanking friends and viewers for the well wishes and assuring them that she’s “going to be OK!”.
“I want to thank [Schwartz’s] co-workers who took immediate action to comfort Alissa and call 911,” CBS Los Angeles vice president and news director Mike Dello Stritto told TMZ.
“Alissa is being treated at the hospital right now. Hopefully we’ll know more shortly. In the meantime, Alissa will be in our thoughts and we’re praying for her to be feeling much better soon.”
It’s not clear what caused her to faint, however TMZ reported she experienced a similar episode back in 2014 when she was working at another network.
Schwartz vomited on set during a weather report and as a result was diagnosed with a leaky heart valve, according to the outlet.
