Pack your nomad bags because Italy has just launched a new digital nomad visa.

If you are a remote worker and enjoy traveling, we might consider Italy. The country’s new digital nomad visa comes into effect this month, CNBC reported.

According to the Italian government, the visa is for non-EU citizens who “perform high-quality work activities using technological tools that enable remote work.” european news reported.

To qualify, visitors must be employed, they can be self-employed, a co-worker or a full-time employee with a permit to work remotely.

The visa is open to workers whose annual income is “at least three times the minimum level for which Italian medical expenses are exempt” (€28,000 per year).

Other eligibility requirements include that workers should have “highly skilled worker” qualifications and not have any criminal record within the past five years.

Applicants must also have health insurance and suitable accommodation covering their entire stay. They should also prove that they have been a digital nomad or remote worker in another location for at least six months.

Once received, the visa is valid for no more than one year. Tourists can renew their visas or bring family members, but Italian police will have the final say.
