New Delhi, Nov 18 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday rejected allegations of power cuts in the city and hit out at AAP leaders for creating “fabricated stories” to mislead the public.
The Chief Minister told IANS: “They are having a candle-light dinner but claiming there is a power failure, which is not at all the case. This is just their habit. They are good story makers… so it is their specialty to create stories and tell stories… the public is satisfied; we have not received any such complaints from them.”
Earlier, the Chief Minister criticized the previous AAP government for worsening the financial condition of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and selling its shares and assets worth Rs 100 crore to a private entity for just Rs 10 crore.
Speaking at the launch of 40 new e-buses and an upgraded bus terminal equipped with modern facilities in Azadpur, CM Gupta said, “We are working hard to gradually revive DTC financially, but those who ruined public transporters have no right to question our work within just eight months of assuming power.”
“It is their habit to question us on roads, hospitals, garbage dumps, but they have no answers for the empty coffers left in the city. No answers for the four incomplete hospital projects started during Covid,” he said.
CM Gupta said the previous government closed all profitable inter-state routes of the DTC and also blamed the AAP government’s “failure” to introduce new buses and plant trees for the city’s existing air pollution problems.
The Chief Minister highlighted the features of the new DTC terminal at Azadpur and said, “It is an important step towards making public transport in the capital faster, safer and more passenger-friendly.”
116 buses will operate from here on 21 major routes. He said facilities like bus pass sections, baby feeding rooms, modern waiting lounges and safe, covered walkways give priority to the comfort and safety of passengers.
He said, for the convenience of passengers, this terminal has been directly connected to Azadpur Metro station through foot overbridge, which will further strengthen inter-modal connectivity.
He said, “40 new e-buses were flagged off and dedicated to public service during the event. Our government is continuously adding e-buses to the DTC fleet to make Delhi’s public transport cleaner, eco-friendly and further strengthen our efforts to control air pollution.”
