Indore, Nov 10 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Police has declared a high alert in the entire state after a tragic explosion that took place near the Red Fort metro station in New Delhi on Monday evening. Inspector General of Police (Intelligence) Ashish has directed all district police chiefs (SPs) to remain alert and intensify surveillance at public places including bus terminals and railway stations. Police in nine districts bordering neighboring states have been issued special instructions to conduct extensive patrolling and vehicle checking at entry points. Reacting to the incident, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav described the blast and the resulting civilian casualties as “disturbing” and “heartbreaking”. “The news of civilian casualties in the car explosion near Red Fort metro station is extremely heartbreaking. I express my condolences to the families of the deceased and pray to Lord Mahakal for the speedy recovery of the injured,” Yadav posted on Twitter. Expressing grief, former Chief Minister Kamal Nath said, “The car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort metro station is extremely sad. The death of people is heart-wrenching. May God grant peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery to the injured.” Leader of Opposition in MP Assembly Umang Singhar also issued a statement: “The explosion near Red Fort metro station is extremely saddening. The death and injuries to innocent people is painful. I pay my tribute to the deceased and wish the speedy recovery of the injured.” The blast spread panic in the national capital and prompted authorities to issue a high alert in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai. –IANS PD/DAN
