New Delhi, Nov 12 (IANS) Two days after a Hyundai i20 car blast at Delhi’s Red Fort that killed at least eight people and injured dozens, Delhi Police sources on Wednesday said they are now searching for another suspicious car – a red-coloured Ford Eco Sports – believed to be part of the terror module.
According to police sources, they have issued an alert and five teams of Delhi Police are searching for the red Eco Sport.
People familiar with the case said the investigation revealed that the suspects had another red car in addition to the i20.
All police stations, police posts and border posts of Delhi have been alerted to search for this car.
At the same time, an alert has been sent to Uttar Pradesh and Haryana Police regarding the red car.
It is noteworthy that after returning from Bhutan on Wednesday, PM Narendra Modi directly reached Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital, where he met the Red Fort blast injured admitted there.
PM Modi reached the national capital in the afternoon after his two-day visit to Bhutan.
He met and interacted with the injured at the hospital and wished them a speedy recovery.
Officials and doctors in the hospital also informed PM Modi.
Earlier in the day, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had formed a special team of 10 officers to investigate the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort metro station.
Sources said on Wednesday that the 10-member special team will be led by NIA ADG Vijay Sakhare and will include one IG, two DIGs, three SPs and the rest DSP level officers.
This has come to light a day after the Home Ministry handed over the Delhi blasts investigation to the NIA on Tuesday.
The blast occurred on the evening of November 10 when a Haryana-registered car parked near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort metro station exploded, killing at least eight people and injuring dozens.
Delhi Police sources said over 1,000 CCTV footage clips are being scanned by the investigating agencies amid suspicion that the car blast could have been a suicide attack aimed at causing maximum damage.
The investigating agencies are also keeping an eye on social media activity and collecting mobile phone dump data from multiple locations across Delhi.
High alert has been issued in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Mumbai and security has been increased in crowded public places and around religious places.
