Those who were permanently disabled would be given a compensation of ₹5 lakh, those seriously injured would be given ₹2 lakh and those who were moderately injured in the blast would be given ₹20,000, the Chief Minister said in a statement.
At least 12 people were killed and 20 others were injured in a high-intensity blast in a car at a traffic signal near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort metro station on Monday evening, officials said.
“An ex-gratia of ₹10 lakh will be given to the families of those who lost their lives, ₹5 lakh to those left permanently disabled and ₹2 lakh to those seriously injured. The government will also ensure proper and quality medical treatment to all the injured,” Gupta said in a post on
The concerned departments have been directed to give priority to the relief distribution process and ensure that every eligible person gets compensation without any delay.
“The unfortunate incident in Delhi has left the entire city in shock. In this difficult time, the Delhi government expresses its deepest condolences to all the families who lost their loved ones and those injured in the incident,” Gupta said in the post.
He said that the incident in Red Fort area is a deep shock not only for the affected families but also for the entire city.
Emphasizing the unity of all Delhiites in this hour of grief, the Chief Minister said that the government will ensure that no affected family feels alone.
Gupta said the untimely loss of any life is an irreparable tragedy for any family and cannot be truly compensated. He said that the Delhi government stands strongly with every affected family in this difficult time.
