He said preliminary analysis showed that one of the explosive samples appeared to be ammonium nitrate.
On Monday, Dr Muzammil Ganai and Dr Shaheen Saeed, associated with Al Falah University, were arrested after 360 kg of ammonium nitrate was recovered during an investigation in Faridabad.
“The second explosive sample is believed to be more powerful than ammonium nitrate. Its exact composition will be confirmed after detailed forensic investigation,” an official said.
According to officials, the FSL team found cartridges while inspecting the spot.
More than 40 samples have been taken so far.
Twelve people lost their lives in a high-intensity explosion in a slow-moving vehicle near the Red Fort traffic signal on Monday.
Officials said further investigation is underway to ascertain the nature of the explosives and how they were used in the blast.
FSL has formed a special team to analyze the samples. Officials said the team has been instructed to expedite the investigation and submit the report without any delay.
The laboratory has been working around the clock since the explosion.
