Security request allegedly led to attack
According to the journalist, the confrontation started when he asked the driver not to keep his mobile phone near his ears while driving and to keep both hands on the steering wheel. He said the request was made purely from a safety perspective, especially after witnessing reckless driving, as reported by News 18.
The journalist further alleged that even before the debate, the driver had almost hit a motorcycle. Shortly after the safety request, the situation escalated, ultimately resulting in a physical assault.
Sharing his account on social media, the journalist wrote: “Quick Driver attacked with rod. Reason: I asked him to stop holding his phone near his ear during calls and keep both hands on the steering wheel. “He had already almost hit a motorcycle before.”
The fight was caught on video, bystanders intervened
The video shared by the journalist captures the tense and chaotic scene on the road. In the footage, the Rapido driver is seen holding a rod and coming towards the person recording the video. As the situation unfolds, voices from the audience can be heard in the background.
A viewer can be heard asking, “Whose car is there? (Whose vehicle is this?)” Another voice urges, “sit in the car and drive forward (Get in the car and drive it forward).” The exchange reveals that the car was suddenly stopped, possibly causing a traffic jam.
At another point in the clip, a man questions the driver’s aggression, saying, “But why are you believing? Will I get your money?(Why are you hitting him, Will you get the money,)” Later the driver is seen picking up the rod again, but bystanders repeatedly ask him to move his vehicle as it was blocking the road. The video ends with the driver fleeing the scene.
