The day started positively for the home team.
After a nervous start, Celtic took their chance when Hoops defender Auston Trusty headed just wide of the post from a Luke McCowan corner kick in the 14th minute when he should have at least been on target.
Then, Maeda Daishan crossed and forward Johnny Kenny fired the ball straight at Jack Butland.
The Gers goalkeeper stood no chance when Young passed the ball to midfielder Benjamin Nygren on the right, received the ball and raced past a porous Gers defense before firing into the net from 12 yards.

The Championship side’s confidence grew but goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was needed to keep out Djeidi Gassama’s shot in the 25th minute after the Gers winger received a pass from Nico Raskin.

However, Wanderers initially moved on from the right through Dujon Sterling, replacing captain James Tavernier, and when Raskin reached the byline he cut the ball back to Cermiti to tap in from a yard out.

Celtic reacted quickly, with Butland blocking Maeda who found space in the Gers penalty area before tipping Young’s header over the crossbar.
However, in the 59th minute, Cermiti stole Celtics defender Anthony Ralston on the sideline and broke through from the left wing. Trusti made no attempt to intercept, allowing the Portuguese forward to run into the penalty area and beat Schmeichel with a shot.
A few minutes later, Maeda had another chance, but his shot missed.
McCown was replaced by new right-back Julian Araujo, on loan from Bournemouth, but Moore quickly received a pass from Gassama and fired past Schmeichel and into the far corner of the net.
Celtic fans erupted in anger, chants of “fire the board” recurred and many left before the final whistle, leaving more than 2,000 Gers fans to celebrate a victory that looked unlikely at half-time.
