Amidst heavy rains in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Ramban district administration has issued a public advisory that banned all the movement near the Chenb River after the rise in water level after heavy rains.

Citing safety concerns, authorities have imposed a complete ban on swimming, bathing, fishing and other movements near the Chenab River and are all local Nallah in the district.

The advisory urges residents to take precautions and avoid getting close to the water bodies, and that strict legal action will be taken against the violations.

District Magistrate, Ramban posted on X, “Due to the water level and security risks, the river chainb and all the Nallahs have complete restrictions on swimming, bathing, fishing and walking. Strict legal action against the violations. Be alert. Be alert. Be safe.”

In another public warning, the Ramban district administration said on X, “According to official information, silt from Dam reservoir will be done from 00:00 pm to 17:00 pm to silt flushing bride power station, Kishtwar on June 28.”

“During this period, a sudden increase in water level in the Chenb River is expected.

Due to heavy rains in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, the water level of the Chenab river increased, causing the Baglihar hydroelectric power project overflow.

According to the official, many people lost their lives in Doda district due to rain -related incidents.
Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Sridhar Patil accepted the situation and urged people to stay away from rivers and flowing streams.

Talking to ANI, Dig Patil said, “You all must have seen that the water level in the Chenab River has increased. One incident has also come in our notice in Doda district, in which some people have lost their lives. I appeal to all people not to go to the rivers … The water level is too high. Do not risk myself.”

On Wednesday, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rescued a person who was trapped in the Tawi River in Jammu, after heavy rains overnight, which increased the water level of the river.

The SDRF personnel landed the stairs at the accident site and rescued a person trapped in Tawi.

Meanwhile, the movement of vehicles in the form of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been closed in Chandrakot, which is closed due to landslides on the Meher and T2 tunnel route.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a multi-field meteorological warning of acute rainfall in various parts of the country and gave a heat-warning for Jammu Division.

In Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, wasolated heavy rainfall was predicted during 25–27 June and during 27-30 June during Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The department predicted light for moderate rainfall, with 30–40 kmph thunderstorms, electricity and gusti winds in northwest India from 24 June to 30 June. (ANI)
