Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu appointed executive president of Jharkhand BJP

A party statement said that Ranchi, October 3 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday appointed Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu as the new working president of his Jharkhand unit.

The announcement was made through an official letter issued by BJP’s National General Secretary, Arun Singh.

“The National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Jagat Prakash Nadda, a member of the Parliament, Aditya Sahu, a member of the Rajya Sabha, has been replaced by the party’s state executive president, Jharkhand, Ravindra Kumar Ray.”

Ravindra Kumar Ray was appointed to the post of Speaker in October last year, which was just before the Jharkhand assembly elections. Inner sources in the party say that Ray can now be given a different responsibility at the organizational level.

Aditya Sahu, a resident of Kuchu village in Ormanji block of Ranchi district, has been associated with BJP for more than two decades. Over the years, he has organized several major organizational positions, including the vice -president and general secretary of the state party unit.

Sahu, a teacher by profession, served as a lecturer at Ram Tahl Chaudhary College till 2019 before being elected to the Rajya Sabha in July 2022.

At the age of 61, Sahu’s height is being explained by the BJP leadership as a calculation political step. Relative to the influential Vaishya community – is traditionally considered a strong support base of the party – their appointment is aimed at strengthening social equations and balanced caste dynamics within the state unit.

Vikas comes at a time when the state’s BJP President Babulal Marandi’s term has also ended, there is speculation on the next leadership change.

The name of former Chief Minister Raghubar Das is also being rounded by the Vaishya community. However, already in an important role with Sahu, political observers believe that the party can now hand over the post of state president to a tribal or a leader of the OBC communities, in the bid to widen its appeal.
