Jaipur, October 22 (IANS) Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will be on a three-day visit to Jaisalmer from October 23, where he will attend the Army Commanders’ Conference to be held in the desert city for the first time after Operation Sindoor.
The visit holds strategic importance as the top military leadership gathers to review operational preparedness and discuss future security challenges.
According to defense sources, the conference will bring together the Army Chief and senior commanders to discuss border security, modern warfare strategies and technological advancements in defense operations on India’s western border.
Discussion will also focus on the Army’s ongoing “Reform Year”, in which progress on structural and technological modernization initiatives will be assessed.
On the second day of his visit, Rajnath Singh will visit Longewala border post, where he will pay tribute to the soldiers martyred during the 1971 India-Pakistan war.
He is also expected to interact with troops deployed on the border, review their operational preparedness and witness a demonstration of new warfare and surveillance technologies.
During his stay, the Defense Minister will also inaugurate several development projects in Jaisalmer.
He will visit the Army War Museum, dedicate the ‘Shaurya Park’ and Cactus Park and launch a new ‘Light and Sound Show’ depicting the valor and glorious history of the Army.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened in and around Jaisalmer ahead of the high-profile visit. Both the army units and the local administration are coordinating to ensure smooth and safe execution of the event.
The visit comes at a time when the Indian Army is emphasizing on jointness, technical integration and operational preparedness in response to the evolving security dynamics on the borders.
