In an exclusive interview with Network18 Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, “After the Bihar elections, you will hear about the next BJP president. There is no dispute in our party.”
Voting is taking place in two phases in Bihar. The first phase of voting took place on 6 November and the second phase of voting will be held on 11 November. The results will be declared on 14 November.
He also clarified the position regarding the role of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The Union Minister said, “RSS never interferes in the political work of BJP. I have been associated with RSS since childhood. Patriotism is born from the Sangh.”
The next BJP president will be the 12th national president of the party and will serve in a full-time capacity. JP Nadda first became the acting president in 2019 and was officially elected in 2020.
Nadda’s induction into the Union Cabinet as Minister of Health and Chemicals and Fertilizers has necessitated the search for his replacement.
Singh also talked about the ongoing Bihar elections and was confident of the ruling National Democratic Alliance winning another term. He said, “With the public response, we are confident that we will form the government and we can get two-thirds majority. Nitish Kumar will be the chief minister and the elections are being fought under his leadership.”
On the entry of political strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor into the political arena of Bihar, Singh said that his party Jan Suraj will not get a single seat.
He said, “Prashant Kishor is an insignificant factor, and there is no need to focus on him. People know who is fighting to cut votes, and who is standing to form the government. Kishor’s party cannot win a single seat.”
