Lucknow, Oct 19 (IANS) Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday lauded Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for its remarkable work in developing the 4.5 generation fighter jet at its Nashik facility.
Addressing a community hall inauguration programme, Rajnath Singh, who represents Lucknow constituency in Parliament, said he reached the Uttar Pradesh capital after attending the unveiling of the new jet in Nashik two days ago.
“Our HAL is doing remarkable work,” he said, adding that a new DRDO laboratory has also been set up in Lucknow to boost research.
He also recalled the firepower of BrahMos demonstrated during Operation Sindoor and said that these missiles are now being produced in Lucknow.
Dedicating a community center in his parliamentary constituency to the public, he said, “I had promised that people would not need to run here and there in search of places to organize events and this community center is the result of that resolve.”
He promised that similar facilities would soon be created in all the assembly constituencies falling under his parliamentary constituency.
The Defense Minister said that his aim is to make Lucknow a world-class city that represents a blend of tradition and modernity.
The Lucknow MP said he has also dedicated around 500 open gyms and 1,250 solar lights in the constituency and ensured construction of 14 out of 25 flyovers sanctioned after his election.
The Defense Minister also announced approval of a study on the feasibility of circular metro rail service in Lucknow.
He said, “We are fully committed to the development of Lucknow.”
The Defense Minister also reflected on the progress made by the city in the field of sanitation and hygiene.
Congratulating the city mayor, he said, “A few days ago, Lucknow was chosen among the top three cities of India in the cleanliness survey of India. Number one in Uttar Pradesh, number three in India. Our effort should be to make Lucknow number one in cleanliness.”
He paid tribute to late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for showing the way and inspiring him to dedicate his life for the welfare of the people in his constituency.
He said he is also trying to ensure that people can travel directly to global destinations by taking direct international flights from Lucknow.
Sharing his plans to expand aviation facilities in Lucknow, he said, “I am still working on the issue.”
