An official statement said that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will meet Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Richard Marles in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The two leaders will discuss the deepening of regional and global security issues and defense cooperation relations.
In a post on X, the Ministry of Defense said, “Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh will meet Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Richard Marls MP in New Delhi today to discuss regional and global security issues and deepen defense cooperation. Defense and security are the major columns of comprehensive strategic partnership, with both Nations,”
Marles are traveling to Maldives, Sri Lanka, India and Indonesia from June 2-5 for high-level meetings, according to the release of the Australian Defense Government.
The Deputy Prime Minister will meet leaders and counterparts in South and Southeast Asia as part of the government’s commitment to deepen diplomatic and defense participation in India-Pacific.
During his visit to Maldives and Sri Lanka, the Deputy Prime Minister will discuss the ongoing Australian support for sovereign capacity development of both countries, stating in the release.
In Indonesia, the Deputy Prime Minister will meet his equivalent to confirm our commitment to a peaceful, safe and rich Indo-Pacific.
Next to the journey, Marls said, “Australia gives importance to our relationship with neighbors in Indo-Pacific. Our deep support is in the heart of Australia’s perspective to ensure that the Indo-Pacific remains open, inclusive and flexible.”
He said, “I look forward to meeting leaders and welcoming productive discussions that we can work together to shape a peaceful, safe and rich area that is respected for sovereignty,” he said.
