Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday held bilateral talks in the national capital with his Japanese counterpart, General Nakatni and thanked the Japanese government for expressing solidarity with India on the recent terrorist attack in Pahgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 people.
The Defense Minister praised Nakani for his efforts to deepen defense cooperation between the two countries.
In his comment at the beginning of the India-Japan Defense Minister, Rajnath Singh recalled his earlier meeting with Nakatani and expressed confidence that cooperation between the two countries would reach higher heights.
Singh said, “Let me start by welcoming you and your delegation in India. I remember our meeting in Vienten, Laos in November last year, where we decided to expand the defense cooperation between the industry, technology and inter -occupant between the armed forces.
“I take the opportunity to supplement you for your immense contribution in deepening Indo-Japan defense cooperation. You already had a foundation for strong bilateral defense partnership for the protection of defense equipment and technical cooperation agreement and safety … as a military information agreement. As you have handled the allegation of defense again, I believe that our cooperation will achieve more heights,” he said.
This was the second meeting between the two leaders within six months after their first conversation on the meeting of ASEAN Defense Ministers in Laos in November 2024.
Earlier in the day, General Nakani was given the Guard of Honor in Delhi. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh received him, and the two leaders congratulated each other warmly.
General Nakani also garlanded the National War Memorial in Delhi on Monday.
In a press release, the Ministry of Defense said, “India and Japan share a long -term friendship that has gained qualitative speed after the height of this cooperation for special strategic and global partnership in 2014. Defense and security are important columns of relations between the two countries.”
According to the press release, the increasing convergence on strategic affairs has strengthened the defense exchange between India and Japan in recent years.
