Jaipur, Oct 27 (IANS) In a major breakthrough against organized crime, the Rajasthan Police Anti-Gangster Task Force (ANTF) has traced and detained Jagdeep Singh alias Jagga, an active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in the US, who is currently linked to the Rohit Godara gang. An officer gave this information.
Jagdeep Singh, a resident of Dhurkot village in Moga district of Punjab, was living abroad for many years and carrying out criminal activities in India.
Under the direction of Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Gangster Task Force/ATS/ANTF) Dinesh MN, the ANTF was closely monitoring the activities of the notorious gangster.
Jagga was actively involved in extortion and shootout incidents for the Bishnoi gang in both Punjab and Rajasthan. Three years ago he fled to Dubai on his passport and later entered the US illegally.
He had also obtained bail in several cases registered in Rajasthan, due to which warrants were issued against him. There are more than a dozen criminal cases registered against Jagdeep Singh in Punjab and the court has declared him a fugitive. In Rajasthan, cases are registered against him in Jodhpur’s Pratap Nagar and Sardarpura police stations.
He was an accused in the case of firing and threatening to kill Dr. Sunil Chandak in Pratap Nagar in March 2017.
Later, in September 2017, he was jailed along with Lawrence Bishnoi and Anmol Bishnoi in the murder case of Vasudev Israni in Sardarpura. This operation was carried out under the supervision of former Deputy Inspector General of Police Yogesh Yadav and current DIG Deepak Bhargava.
AGTF conducted several raids on Jagga’s hideouts in India and gathered intelligence about his overseas networks. With the help of international law enforcement coordination, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained Jagga near the Canada–US border.
Jagdeep Singh is currently in the custody of US authorities.
An official said legal proceedings have begun for his extradition to India. Once extradited, the AGTF is expected to obtain vital information about other members and financial operations of the Bishnoi-Godara network.
Additional cases will be registered under relevant provisions including Section 111 of the Indian Penal Code and strict action will be taken against those promoting organized crime.
This action was carried out by Additional Superintendent of Police Siddhant Sharma along with officers Narottam Verma, Ravindra Pratap, Sunil Jangid, Manish Sharma, Kamal Puri, Head Constable Ramesh Kumar and constables Subhash Chand and Surendra Kumar.
