Rajasthan: The pair of husband and wife was arrested for printing fake currency; 12.20 lakh rupees seized

Jaipur, October 2 (IANS) A major fake currency racket was cut into Jhalarapatan as the husband-wife pair was arrested for printing and distributing fake currency notes.

The operation led jointly by the Julawar District Special Team (DST) and Chandigarh Police, resulting in seizure of fake notes worth Rs 12.20 lakhs.

The arrested persons have been identified as Jitendra Sharma (40) and his wife Rajni Sharma (37).

Both are originally from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, and have been living on rent at the Chandravati Growth Center in Jhalarapatan police station area for the last five months.

According to Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar, on September 29, the Chandigarh Police succeeded after arresting two people, Gaurav and Vikram to broadcast fake 500 rupee notes.

Gaurav was found with 1,646 fake notes, and Vikram was 392, which was more than Rs 10.19 lakh. Both were trying to pass fake notes in exchange for real currency.

During interrogation, it was revealed that fake notes were received through courier. The parcel bored fake names and addresses, which was born in the city of Bakani in Jhalawar district.

Acting on this leadership, a Chandigarh police team coordinated with Jhalawar DST to conduct further investigation. More than 100 CCTV recording was analyzed from the local council centers, eventually recognizing Rajni Sharma as a woman who sent a parcel.

On Wednesday, a late night raid was conducted in the couple’s rented residence, where the police recovered fake currency notes worth Rs 12.20 lakhs along with equipment used in the production process.

The seized items included a laptop, color printer, cutter, ink, printing paper and a screen frame imagener.

Police revealed that the couple was part of a large fake currency syndicate, using courier services to supply fake notes to their colleagues in other cities.

Both the accused have been arrested, and the seized materials have been handed over to the Chandigarh Police, who have taken the couple into custody for further investigation.
