Jaipur, October 15 (IANS) Panic spread in Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur on Wednesday when a bomb threat email was received in the Jaipur Sessions Court, warning of an explosion at 3 pm.
The official said the alarming message prompted authorities to immediately put the entire court complex and surrounding areas on high alert.
According to officials, the threatening mail was received by the court administration in the afternoon, after which the police control room and security agencies were alerted.
“Within minutes, the complex was evacuated and a large-scale demolition and bomb detection operation was launched,” an official said.
He said that as soon as information about the bomb was received, security agencies quickly mobilized.
Senior police officials, including officials from the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), bomb disposal squad, civil defense and fire department, rushed to the spot as all entry and exit routes of the sessions court were closed as teams conducted room-by-room inspection and checked vehicles and nearby structures.
Police officials confirmed that multiple units were deployed to ensure public safety.
“We are not taking any risks. Every corner of the court premises is being searched carefully,” he said.
Officials said that cyber experts of the police cyber cell have also started tracing the source of the email.
“Initial inputs suggest that the sender used a proxy network, and efforts are underway to identify the IP address and digital trail of the message,” he said.
Jaipur Sessions Court sees a huge crowd of lawyers, litigants and visitors every day. As news of the threat spread, panic and confusion arose among those present.
The police immediately evacuated everyone safely and cordoned off the area. Both the lawyer and the visitor looked nervous.
Officials have urged citizens not to panic or spread rumours, assuring that all security measures are being taken.
“The situation is under control. We request people to remain calm and cooperate with the police,” officials said.
According to the latest update, no suspicious object has been found, but the search operation was going on till the time of writing the news.
