Jaipur, Oct 10 (IANS) The Rajasthan Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Thursday arrested 28 people who had fraudulently obtained jobs as security guards in the Food Corporation of India (FCI) by using fake army retirement documents.
According to IG (ATS) Vikas Kumar, it is mandatory for FCI that 90 percent of its security personnel should be retired army personnel.
Acting on a tip-off, the ATS launched an investigation which revealed that several guards were using forged ex-serviceman certificates to get jobs through a private security agency, he said.
“In a well-planned operation, ATS conducted a mock drill at 31 FCI depots in Kota, Bhilwara, Udaipur and Banswara,” he said.
He said that under this pretext, all the security guards were gathered and asked to submit their army retirement documents for verification.
He said that after a thorough investigation, 28 guards were found submitting forged documents, including fake ID cards posing as retired army personnel.
“These persons were immediately arrested and their fake documents were seized. Investigation revealed that each fake ex-serviceman had paid Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 to obtain fake army documents,” he said.
He said that once he was employed at FCI, he received a salary of more than Rs 21,000 per month, but he used to pay a monthly commission of Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 to the brokers who helped facilitate his employment.
“Some of the accused were working in FCI for 3-4 years, which indicates the depth of the racket. ATS suspects that a larger network is involved and is actively investigating it,” he said. The ATS has registered three cases so far and more arrests are expected as the investigation progresses. Officials said the operation is part of a broader crackdown on document fraud and corruption in security recruitment.
IG (ATS) Vikas Kumar said that those arrested include: Bahadur Singh Bhati, Narendra Singh Natwar, Ramprasad Meena, Yashpal Singh, Kalu Singh, Bholuraam, Rajesh Singh, Gopal Singh, Himmat Singh, Vijay Singh, Pappu Singh, Kumer Singh, Sumer Singh, Atrup Singh, Chandraprakash Meena, Ramsamujh Yadav, Devendra Singh, Raghunandan Singh Hada, Mahendra Kumar Meena, Siyaram Meena, Haricharan Meena, Mahesh, Rajhans, Dinesh Singh, Gajendra Singh, Mohan Singh, Raju Singh Bhati, and others.
