New Delhi: Raj Kumar Arora, a 1990 batch Indian Defense Accounts Service (IDAS) officer, took charge as Financial Advisor, Defense Services on Saturday, an official said.
In a related development, Vishwajit Sahay, a 1990-batch Indian Defense Accounts Service (IDAS) officer, took charge as the Controller General of Defense Accounts (CGDA), the official said in a statement.
Arora, the new Financial Advisor to the Defense Services, has wide-ranging experience in the areas of defense acquisitions, financial policy, accounting, audit, budgeting and personnel management.
Prior to his present appointment, he served as the Controller General of Defense Accounts (CGDA). He has previously held several important positions in the Government of India, including Additional Secretary in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Finance Manager (Air) in the Acquisition Wing of the Ministry of Defence, and Director in the Ministry of Finance.
He also served as Member (Finance) in the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board and Integrated Financial Advisor in various command and field offices of the Defense Accounts Department.
Sahay, an alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University, has over three decades of experience in defense finance and public administration, the statement said.
He has held several key positions in the Government of India, including Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor, Department of Science and Technology; Joint Secretary, Department of Heavy Industries; and Finance Manager (Acquisition Wing), Ministry of Defence. Within the Defense Accounts Department, he has held the posts of Principal Controller of Defense Accounts (Pension), Prayagraj; Joint CGDA; And special CGDA.
Sahay has also represented India at international training forums including Cambridge University, UK and George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, Germany.
In another development in the Indian Navy, Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh, AVSM, NM took charge as the Chief of Personnel of the Indian Navy on Saturday and Vice Admiral B Shivakumar, AVSM, VSM took charge as the 40th Chief of Material on Saturday.
