According to departmental officials, the speed of the loop-line has been increased from 15 km/hr to 30 km/hr. The upgrade will affect several stations on the Veerangana Lakshmibai Jhansi-Mahoba section, including Kulpahar, Charkhari Road, Teharka and Ranipur Road.
Divisional DRM Anirudh Kumar said, “Continuous steps are being taken in the division to reduce travel time.”
Under the previous arrangement, trains switching on loop lines had to slow down significantly, often causing delays in arrival and departure times. With doubling of loop-line speed:
- Normal trains will pass through the loop section much faster, improving punctuality at each upgraded station.
- Even when mail and express trains – including top tier services like Vande Bharat Express or Rajdhani Express – use the main line, other trains placed on loop lines will no longer crawl at 15 km/h; They can now maintain 30 km/h.
- Trains no longer need to queue up waiting for the loop line to be cleared. Faster clearance of the loop track helps streamline traffic flow on both the main and loop lines.
Indian Railways says this is part of a nationwide initiative – in which loop-line track repairs are underway at several stations – which aims to increase loop-line speeds across the country, progressively improve rail traffic efficiency and reduce journey times.
For passengers traveling through the Jhansi network, these upgrades are expected to translate into earlier arrivals, shorter journey duration and overall easier travel.
